A Collaborative Effort between GSG and Nigeria Customs Service
The Customs Reforms and Modernisation in Nigeria, Towards a Comprehensive Vision Report is an in-depth analysis focusing on Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). Commissioned in 2011 by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi, D.I., CFR the report’s aim is to reach out to stakeholders, assess the progress that has been made by NCS, and explore some of the challenges that face the service, allowing more effective planning and helping to achieve a clear definition of the way forward.
Global South Group worked in close partnership with NCS in an intensive research campaign visiting relevant sites all over Nigeria, including seaports, airports, border crossings and terminals. The goal of the report was not to serve as a ‘public relations’ excerise, but instead to provide serious reflection on the reforms needed to improve and modernize the Service as well as trade facilitation in Nigeria as whole.
